Abstract :
The chapter focuses on barriers addressing prevention, care, treatment for MSM. Structured around the terminology in current use, the chapter explicates key conceptual issues (sex, sexuality, disease and category formations), thereafter proceeding to research on MSM in sub-Saharan Africa that identifies the barriers in question, after which a perspective is offered on prevalence of HIV infection among MSM. Conclusions identify some key recommendations to be considered to counter the gaps and limitations.
